Nasolabial folds & Marrionette lines

Nasolabial folds are the areas of indented skin that run from the side of your nose down to the corners of your mouth. Nasolabial folds are a normal anatomic feature. However, as people age, these folds can become deeper and may also result in the face looking ‘saggy’.

Marionette lines are vertical lines that extend from the outer corners of the mouth down to the jawline on either side of the chin.

Both of these features are caused by:

  • repeated facial expressions

  • reduced production of collagen and elastin

  • age-related fat reduction in the face

What does this procedure involve?

Dermal filler is placed  just under the skin in the nasolabial fold area or the upper cheek area to give the cheeks a lift, making the nasolabial folds less noticeable. Fillers cannot make nasolabial folds disappear, but they can make them less pronounced. Similarly dermal fillers can be placed under the skin in the marionette lines in order to create a more fuller and youthful appearence.

What results will I see and is there any side effects?

The results for this treatment are seen immediately but can take up to 2 weeks to fully settle. The area may feel tender to touch and there be mild signs of bruising which will subside within 48 hours. Most patients resume their normal day to day activities straight after treatment.

What will happen at my consultation?

You will have a free confidential consultation before any treatment with no obligation. This includes discussing your concerned areas, any expectations, side effects and the treatment process. A medical history will be taken to ensure safe and appropriate treatment.
