While nothing is quite as good as your natural teeth, sometimes due to excessive decay or bone loss some teeth are deemed unsalvageable.

If we cannot save the tooth for any reason then you will be offered an extraction to remove the tooth.

More complicated extractions that require a more complex approach will be handled by our trusted oral surgeon, to ensure you get the best possible treatment and the best possible outcome.

FAQs

What happens when I lose a tooth?

Before a tooth is removed we will discuss what the consequences of the extraction are and what you would like to do with the resulting space. The options are either to accept the space, have an implant, a bridge, or a removable denture. The pros and cons of each will be discussed with you for you to make the best decision. We are also able to provide you with immediate replacement temporary dentures or a temporary bridge if needed as long as it’s a planned extraction so that you do not have to walk out with a gap.

Does it hurt?

We will make sure you are as comfortable as possible during the extraction by making sure you are fully numb. The feeling of pressure during the extraction is completely normal. Some mild post-operative pain that is easily managed with painkillers can be expected. We will always give you a thorough list of post-operative instructions to help you care for the extraction site.
