As we age, the skin gradually loses volume underneath its surface — which is what causes wrinkles, folds, and a change in facial contour over time. Dermal fillers work by replacing that lost volume, which can help to lift and smooth the overlying skin and restore a more balanced facial shape. At Face Studio Clinic, we use CE-marked, MHRA-regulated hyaluronic acid-based fillers, which are non-permanent but long-lasting — meaning results fade gradually and don’t carry the risks associated with permanent implants.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance the body already produces naturally, and is also thought to help support the skin’s own collagen production, alongside its role in restoring volume.

What can dermal fillers help with?

Every treatment plan is different, but common concerns our patients bring to consultation include:

Is dermal filler right for you?

The right treatment (if any) depends on your facial anatomy and goals, which is why every plan starts with a face-to-face consultation. Our practitioners will assess your skin and structure, talk through the options and realistic outcomes for your specific concern, and explain the risks alongside the benefits.

FAQs

How long do dermal fillers last?

This depends on the area treated, the product used, and your own metabolism. Your practitioner will give you a realistic estimate for your specific treatment plan at consultation.

How soon will I see the results?

You will be able to see the results of your treatment immediately. However, it can take up to 2 weeks for the filler to completely settle.

Are dermal fillers permanent?

No. Hyaluronic acid filler is non-permanent — your body gradually breaks it down over time, which is why most patients have occasional top-up treatments to maintain results.

Which areas can be treated with dermal filler?

Common areas include the cheeks, jawline, chin, nose, lips and under-eye area, as well as general skin hydration treatments. We’ll talk through what’s suitable for you at consultation.

Does it hurt?

A fine needle or cannula is used, and most patients describe mild, brief discomfort. Numbing cream is available for more sensitive areas like the lips.

Is there any downtime?

Mild swelling or bruising is common for the first few days and usually settles within a week or two. You’ll be given full aftercare guidance after treatment.

Who shouldn't have dermal filler?

It isn’t suitable for everyone — for example, it’s not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with certain allergies or skin conditions. A full medical history is taken at consultation.
