Invisalign® is an advanced clear aligner system to straighten your teeth.

Invisalign® is a clear aligner system which is used by your dentist to straighten your teeth discreetly and predictably. Most cases take between 6 and 9 months depending on complexity. A series of clear trays are worn, with each tray moving the teeth in a planned sequence until the desired tooth positions are achieved.

Tooth movement is planned digitally from the very start, starting with a 3D digital scan of your teeth, which enhances the accuracy and efficiency of the treatment.  The 3D digital scan of your teeth also allows us to show you what your teeth could potentially look like after treatment. This is called a Smile Simulation.

What can Invisalign® fix?

Crowded teeth treatment
Crowded teeth

Crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

Gaps between teeth
Gaps between teeth

Gaps between teeth is when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

Underbite treatment
Underbite

An underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

Open bite treatment
Open bite

An Open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of food like apples.

Overbite treatment
Overbite

An overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

Crossbite treatment
Crossbite

A crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

FAQs

1. What does the process involve?

At your initial consultation, we will discuss your concerns, and all the available options, as well as take a 3D digital scan to show you a potential before and after of what your teeth could look like with Invisalign treatment.

If you choose to go ahead with treatment, a full assessment of your teeth and gums will be completed including taking relevant X-rays.

Next is the Clincheck appointment. At this appointment we will show you a more detailed version of the planned tooth movement.

Once we have agreed on your Clincheck and are happy to proceed, we will order your aligners which will be fitted at your next appointment. Your Invisalign journey to straighter teeth begins!

2. What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Invisalign uses almost invisible trays which are taken out to eat drink and clean your teeth. This allows you to carry on with your normal diet and you can also maintain a high level of oral hygiene.

Fewer appointments are usually required as treatment times are shorter and there is minimal discomfort compared to fixed braces. The aligners apply a gentle force to the teeth which is essential for effective tooth movement.

3. Will my teeth stay straight after treatment?

It is important to note that after any tooth straightening procedure, it is essential that retainers are worn at night for as long as you would like the teeth to remain straight.
